Position Overview
The Plant Manager oversees all the daily operations of the manufacturing plant from production to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. The Plant Manager develops and implements processes and leads the team to ensure production of required product quantities in a way that promotes, safety, quality, and productivity.
Essential Job Duties
- Demonstrates and champions the Designs for Health Company Values, maintaining the highest levels of personal character, integrity, and professionalism
- Plans, organizes, directs, and runs optimum day-to-day manufacturing operations in the assigned location in accordance with company and department priorities and directives.
- Delivers the output, quality, and on-time delivery required per the production plan.
- Manage day to day warehouse operations, inventory control, and inbound and outbound shipping.
- Troubleshoots and resolves production issues with equipment, processes, and teams.
- Champions lean initiatives in partnership with management and cross-functional colleagues.
- Allocates resources effectively and fully utilizes capital and people assets to produce deliver optimal results.
- Implements programs that are aligned with company and department strategic initiatives and priorities and provides a clear direction and focus to the manufacturing team in the assigned location.
- Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, including other teams and sites within Operations, Quality, Human Resources, and Finance.
- Leads, manages, and develops production staff.
- Collects and analyzes data to optimize the manufacturing operation at the assigned location.
- Ensures the plant follows applicable cGMP/quality and safety procedures and maintains (or improves where applicable) the quality and safety incident rates at the assigned location.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field required; Masters degree preferred
- At least 5 years of experience as in manufacturing roles of increasing responsibility.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
- Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in the manufacturing division.
- Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others.
- Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.
- Proficiency with industry standard equipment and applicable technical expertise to the lines of production operating at the assigned location
- Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, inventory, and other production processes
- Ability to hold employees accountable and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
- Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
