A prestigious partner hospital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regional Medical Director to oversee a portfolio of 20-35 animal hospitals in the Houston, Texas area. This field-based position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with dedicated veterinary teams, ensuring the highest standards of care and driving operational success. The Regional Medical Director will engage with hospitals regularly, supporting medical excellence, mentoring staff, and enhancing patient care across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor veterinary teams, guiding them through challenging cases and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Ensure exceptional patient care by monitoring doctor interactions and medical protocols.
- Assist with resolving staff and client conflicts, promoting effective communication and problem-solving.
- Collaborate with practice managers and regional directors to optimize business operations and enhance the performance of each hospital.
- Conduct quarterly inspections of each practice to maintain high standards.
- Review and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue, visits, and patient outcomes, and recommend improvements.
- Provide ongoing mentorship and support to new graduate veterinarians, ensuring their success and growth.
- Oversee compliance with operational and medical protocols, including licensing requirements and DEA logs.
- Support the region by filling urgent staffing shifts and providing guidance on complex cases.
Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate is an experienced veterinarian with strong leadership skills and a passion for animal welfare. They should possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-location environment. Candidates should have:
- A DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited institution.
- 5 years of clinical experience, with leadership experience preferred.
- Active veterinary license and DEA in good standing for Texas (or ability to obtain).
- A strong ability to analyze performance data and implement solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage relationships with veterinary staff, clients, and leadership.
- The ability to travel regularly within the Houston area and manage a diverse team.
Location & Travel: This is a field-based role located in the Houston, Texas area , requiring weekly travel to multiple animal hospitals in the region. Candidates should be based in or near Houston to facilitate travel logistics.
