Production Supervisor

He/she will assign work and monitor all work for quality and timeliness, problem solving and decision making. He/she will also ensure that all safety procedures are followed. He/she will perform performance reviews and provide clear feedback to employees. He/she is responsible for the quality of production output. He/she will act as liaison between suppliers and customers and define methods and equipment used to measure process's key quality characteristics. He/she will train production workers in updated work procedures. The Production Supervisor reports to the Plant Manager. The position is in Wheeling, Illinois and has hourly employees as direct reports. The position requires the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to: Leads and promotes safety awareness with other key members of the team. Promotes accident prevention and employee involvement regarding a safe work environment. Ensures employees understand the safety expectations of the organization. Leads and fosters the continuous improvement roadmap for the manufacturing team. Leverages continuous improvement tools to drive continued operational improvements and ensures engagement of the entire team through strong communication and clear direction. Motivates and manages the machining team to achieve annual goals/objectives set at the individual and organizational level. Supervises team daily, while ensuring safety requirements are met. Responsible for the quality of production output. Ensures the completion of the daily schedule. Responds to abnormalities in the department, such as production disruptions, implements counter measures and manages daily continuous improvement. Regularly coaches, mentors, disciplines and provides feedback to team members. Conducts performance appraisals. Manages numeric information Reports and elevates any issues reported by employees to management. Schedules weekly overtime when needed. Assists with the hiring process. Any duties required assisting customers and/or making DESTACO a successful organization. Job Requirements: Experience: Requires 5 years minimum Supervisory experience in a Machining environment Competency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to learn Manufacturing software such as Oracle Understanding of Quality Systems Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Flexible, with strong teamwork orientation Experience operating in tiered daily management environment Good verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated leadership ability, including experience coaching and training others Strong organization and problem-solving skills; analytical and creative Strong orientation toward quality, safety and continuous improvement Ability to work well under pressure Experience implementing lean manufacturing methodologies (Lean 6S, Problem Solving, Toyota Production System, etc.). Experience in collaborating with leaders and leading teams. Experience with leading and implementing the following: Change Management Coaching and developing team members Performance management process Leadership standard work Talent acquisition/recruitment Experience with Lean and Behavior-based Safety approach a plus.
