Position Summary :
The Sr. Environmental Compliance Engineer owns, leads and manages the global chemical compliance for Det-Tronics. The Sr. Environmental Compliance Engineer is part of the Det-Tronics Engineering Approvals Team and assists with the ongoing work required to obtain and maintain product compliance with the required industry regulations. In this role, they will develop a process in close coordination with the supply chain team to manage and ensure the chemical and restricted materials compliance of Det-Tronics products. This will require performing detailed product analyses and obtaining the required component compliance data from database tools, interactions with suppliers and conducting hands-on component and product testing. They will generate the required documentation and interface with regulatory agencies to verify compliance. They will also act as a consultant to other teams on compliance concerns matters, participate in sustaining and new product development projects, and answering internal and external customer questions regarding chemical and restricted-material related questions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Interpret applicable standards and regulations and apply the requirements to the products
- Provide technical expertise to the company on global regulations, laws, and directives pertaining to chemical and restricted-material compliance for the products and components
- Participate in project and product development teams to ensure that chemical and restricted-material regulation requirements are considered and properly addressed
- Prepare technical justifications and technical documents to demonstrate compliance to applicable standards and regulations
- Interface directly with suppliers and third-party regulatory / certification agencies as required
- Perform detailed product analyses and obtain the required component compliance data from database tools, interactions with suppliers and conducting hands-on component and product testing
- Maintain existing certifications and / or declarations, and support all engineering change orders as an approver to maintain product compliance
- Prioritize and manage work requests in an organized and timely manner
- Develop a system for gathering and maintaining information related to chemical content in components in technical files for the product
- Collaborate with development teams and supply chain in understanding and implementing chemical compliance activities such as product labeling, reporting, registration, etc
