Position DescriptionUnder direction of Field Service personnel, installs, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and removes electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic components and equipment. May provide technical assistance to engineers for weapons system design and development. Installs, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and removes electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic systems and equipment. Assists in coordinating tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of test equipment and test procedures. Sets up and operates equipment and records data. Conducts preliminary analysis of test results and reports findings to senior employees. Assist in the preparation of required documentation and reports. Extracts and analyzes a variety of basic engineering data. Applies conventional engineering practices to develop or prepares schematics, parts lists, or make recommendations regarding these items. Responds to fleet emergency calls from customer and assigned field service personnel and maintains an inventory of parts and tooling for all field service operations. Prepares documentation and coordinates the movement of these items to assigned field operations. Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies. Share responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.Skills RequiredWorking knowledge of reading blueprints and technical repair standards. Two years vocational or mechanical training working with basic electrical/mechanical/hydraulic instrumentation tools and hardware plus two years of related work experience. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to obtain U.S. Government Clearance. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to gather information from a variety of sources. Excellent time management and multitasking skills. J-Standard Certification and 620 Certification.Skills PreferredExperience RequiredPrior experience on U.S. Navy weapons systems (esp. MK-38, MK-41, MK-45 and MK-110) helpful but not required. Minimum 2yrs of mechanical experience. Relevant ordnance coursework or training helpful but not required.
