Job Title: Sports, Recreation & Wellness Summer Coordinator
Location: Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center (DLCCC)
Status: Seasonal | Full-Time (Late May–Mid August)
Reports To: Membership and Marketing Director
Position Summary:
The Sports, Recreation & Wellness Summer Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting youth and adult programs and promoting active, healthy summer experiences for kids and families in the Detroit Lakes area. This seasonal position assists with the coordination and delivery of a variety of summer programs, including but not limited to The Rec at City Park, youth softball and baseball leagues (including Minor League, Major League and Little League), Happy Bats, T-ball, Tennis Lessons, the in-house DLCCC Summer Day Camp, Adult Recreation along with the opportunity to create new programs!
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working with kids and adults, staying active and making a positive impact in the community through sports,
wellness, and play.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day operations of Summer Rec programming in City Park.
- Support youth sports programming.
- Support Adult Recreation programming.
- Help support the Summer Day Camp program which may include creating indoor and outdoor games, crafts, and wellness-focused activities.
- Provide on-site supervision and ensure participant safety, engagement, and fun.
- Assist with program set-up, equipment management, check-in/out procedures and communication with parents/guardians as needed.
- Work collaboratively with other staff.
- Serve as a role model and positive influence for youth in all settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in a camp, recreation or educational setting.
- Interest or background in sports, youth development, wellness, or education.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an indoor and outdoor or active environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must be at least 18 years old with reliable transportation.
Schedule & Pay:
- Full-time seasonal position from approximately late May through mid-August.
- Hours may vary based on programming needs; some evenings or weekends required.
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
