What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math Teacher (Cass Tech High School) position at Detroit Public Schools Community District?
Duties:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for mathematics classes
- Provide instruction to students on various mathematical concepts and skills
- Utilize instructional technology and resources to enhance student learning
- Assess student progress and provide feedback on assignments and assessments
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities
- Utilize behavior management strategies to create a positive and productive classroom environment
- Provide academic advising to students regarding course selection and career goals
- Collaborate with special education teachers to support students with individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Utilize research-based instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students
- Incorporate real-world applications of mathematics into lessons to enhance student understanding
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Teaching certification or licensure in Mathematics
- Experience teaching mathematics at the secondary level
- Knowledge of instructional design principles and practices
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and resources
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
