Qualifications
- Fully fluent in Spanish with excellent verbal and written communication in Spanish.
- Ability to effectively interpret in Spanish and English.
- Must be a member of the N.C. State Bar or able to waive in.
- Three or more years’ experience in Personal Injury law, pre-litigation experience required. Litigation experience a plus.
- Experience interacting with and building relationships with clients.
- Can quickly spot issues, with the ability to evaluate and build strategies for cases that may need to be litigated.
- Strong time-management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment focusing on teamwork.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Upbeat with a can-do attitude; must be able to work independently and have a desire to assume significant responsibility.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Represent the interests of the clients at all stages of their case. This will involve all aspects of client communication, including in person meetings, telephone conferences, and through all stages of litigation.
- Review and analyze medical evidence, medical records, investigative records and reports, legal documents, statutes and case law.
- Engage in legal writing and research including motions and responses, briefs, and appeals.
- Litigate claims at all stages of the case, including discovery, depositions, mediation, negotiations, hearings, and trials.
- Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for the presentation of the case.
- Locate insurance and investigate additional sources of insurance coverage.
- Engage in trial advocacy including taking testimony of lay and expert witnesses, conducting discovery, mediating claims, and guiding clients through the litigation process.
- Supervise and work with all members of the personal injury team.
