The DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers is the largest personal injury law firm in the state of Kansas. We have two offices in Wichita and an office in Topeka, with 21 lawyers. With more cases in the Topeka area, we need attorneys who are interested in living and working in Topeka. DeVaughn James is a fun place to work. The 21 current attorneys are part of a total team of 85 individuals committed to aggressively fighting for injured people in a professional manner.

We represent clients who have been injured and need a compassionate advocate to fight for them against big insurance companies. Our team is very specialized, and we are needing an attorney to join our Pre-Litigation Attorney Team in Topeka. Pre-litigation includes meeting with clients and potential clients, handling of files, presenting cases to our Focus Group, preparation of cases for demand, negotiation, court hearings for approval and being second chair in trial. Other attorney positions with our office includes our Litigation Team, where duties include attending court hearings, legal writing, taking depositions and being first chair at trial.

Experience is not necessary, but a Kansas license (or taking the next bar exam) is required. Individuals licensed in other states, but working towards a Kansas license are also encouraged to apply.

This is a full-time position with health insurance fully paid by the firm for the attorney, long-term and short-term disability insurance fully paid by the firm, paid time off (2 weeks your first year and then 3 weeks per year after that) and dental insurance fully paid by the firm for the attorney. After a year with the firm you will be eligible for the 401k plan upon the plan entry date and the firm automatically contributes 3% of your salary to your retirement. The starting salary for new attorneys or those with limited experience is $70,000 - 80,000 per year depending on qualifications with eligibility for a raise after 120 days. There is also a bonus plan available when handling your own files.

If you are an experienced attorney who has actively handled and litigated personal injury cases for the plaintiff or defense, the above salary range salary is negotiable based upon your experience and earnings. We understand you want to make more than you do in your current position.
