Overview
As a Software Controls Engineer II, you will be part of a team of talented engineers and automation specialists who create and support automated solutions for our manufacturing and new product development customers. You will assist in developing, implementing, and supporting automated equipment and software systems for medical device manufacturing. This role has a hands-on approach in equipment development, including automation and control design, electro-mechanical systems, industrial and collaborative robots, and computer hardware and software support. This enables us to support and develop many legacy and new technology solutions across the full spectrum of manufacturing capabilities, from high-volume automation to low-volume manual assembly.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Provides support to new and sustaining initiatives in the areas of automation and equipment design originating from the Process Development team
- Controls project planning (i.e., project scheduling/phasing, subcontract planning, resource planning, budget planning, commissioning planning)
- Review of project requirements & definition and the formulation of project specifications (i.e., functional, design, etc.)
- All aspects of control system execution, from hardware design, system design, network design, software development (PLC and PC-related systems), and system commissioning
- Identifies, anticipates, and mitigates technical risks and scope changes encountered during highly visible and challenging equipment design
- Completes FDA/QSR software requirements by assisting in the creation of specifications and qualifications
- Develop relationships and cultivate future work opportunities with clients and facilities as work is performed
- Engages with peers to align on development standards and common strategies
- Produce high-quality project deliverables while working in a collaborative team environment
- Monitors daily work and provides feedback and status to project leaders or supervisor
- Provides training as required to ensure that the equipment can be operated effectively
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Technology field
- 3-5 years of engineering / related work experience
- A passion for connecting technical solutions with operational excellence
- Familiarity with standard PLC hardware
- Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Allen Bradley suite of products (Logix5000, Studio 5000, Factory Talk View) with a PackML methodology desired.?
- Experience selecting and sizing electro-mechanical components (servo motors, sensors, pneumatics, heaters) and motion control.
