Description

Developmental Pathways (DP) has a new opportunity for a Chief Program Officer (CPO). We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary leader to join our executive team. This role will be responsible for executive-level operational and thoughtful leadership, programmatic vision, and strategic planning for Early Intervention and Case Management programs, in alignment with organizational objectives. The CPO will partner with the executive team, shared services departments, and program leaders to maintain and strengthen existing program operations and coordinate new programs and services. This role will also engage customers, key funders, and community partners and will solicit feedback towards continuous improvement, as well as advocate for needed program funding and other supports. In addition, the CPO will be responsible for driving operational results by regularly measuring, analyzing, and working to improve program outcome effectiveness, assessing, and securing needed resources, and providing organizational leadership.

Started in 1964, Developmental Pathways (DP) is a nonprofit agency serving more than 15,000 individuals with disabilities and their families in Arapahoe, Douglas, and Elbert counties. We are a designated Case Management Agency (CMA) for long-term care services and are one of Colorado’s Community Centered Boards (CCB), connecting people to federal, state, county, and private funding. We are also Colorado’s largest Early Intervention (EI) provider and help connect young children to essential resources, serving the City of Aurora in addition. Our mission is to enrich the lives of people with disabilities/delays by partnering to provide expertise, support, and advocacy in their pursuit of a meaningful life.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative

  • Overall financial responsibility and day-to-day oversight of programmatic operations and personnel. 
  • Partners to develop long-term strategies and related goals/tactics, ensuring business continuity and successful operations.  
  • Seizes and builds upon business opportunities to expand operations and mission impact in alignment with long-term strategic priorities.
  • Acts as a primary program liaison and advocate with federal, state, and local constituents and stakeholders. 
  • Serves as an agent for actively managing ongoing organizational change and ensures clarity, understanding, and commitment to/from all stakeholders. 
  • Establishes credibility throughout the organization and with the Board of Directors (BOD) as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges, and related planning and execution  
  • Cultivates relationships and establishes solid partnerships between different programs and departments, encouraging knowledge sharing, resource utilization, and collaborative problem-solving. 

Leadership, Managerial and Supervisory  

  • Helps direct organizational planning, including workforce and succession planning. 
  • Champions program leadership team effectiveness, collaboration, and core process improvement. 
  • Works to diagnose organization’s overall health, including morale, efficiency, and effectiveness, and helps to implement internal solutions to ensure sustainability. 
  • Monitors productivity and prioritizes work activities of supervised staff to ensure work/life balance.
  • Manages and grows a team of professionals, leading and directing their execution of strategies in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.  

Financial/Budgetary 

  • Collaborates closely with the CFO, other company leaders, and BOD to develop and implement the organization’s financial strategy. 
  • Supports executive leadership and program leaders in their budgeting and spending efforts through strategic and operational planning guidance and troubleshooting. 

Communication and Coordination 

  • Works to foster healthy relationships with individuals & families served, community members, other provider agencies, CCBs, and State employees to exchange knowledge and information and achieve mutual goals.  
  • Ensures that business strategies are clearly understood by all stakeholders and that the organization is achieving its strategic goals at an optimum pace.  
  • Proactively forges new relationships to build organizational visibility & brand, impact, and further advocate for needed funding.

Qualifications


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, Health, Social Work, Organizational Development, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 10 years combination of education and experience in related field(s) may be substituted for degree requirement.
    • Two to five years employed in Developmental Disabilities or a related field preferred.  
  • Eight to ten years of progressive experience in a non-profit organization, preferably leading major operational initiatives across a large, multi-disciplinary enterprise.  
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with senior executives to structure and lead an effective and broad-based business strategy; with a history of launching targeted programs and delivering timely results which optimize and enhance overall operations. 
  • Strong business orientation with significant experience leading and implementing change management initiatives across all levels of the organization. 
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills with a broad knowledge of employment practices. 
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Strong project management skills. Able to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines with limited resources. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, mediation, and negotiating skills. 
  • Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills.

The salary range for this role starts at $188k; compensation commensurate on experience.
