Principle Purpose of Job
The Banquet Captain is responsible for assisting the Banquet Manager with front-of-house operational duties and working as a server, guiding guests through the key phases of their event experience. The Banquet Captain ensures all service standards are met and that every event exceeds guest expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise banquet staff during events, ensuring all service standards are met and exceeded.
- Collaborate with the Banquet Manager to plan and execute event details according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
- Oversee setup and breakdown of event spaces, maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout events.
- Communicate event expectations to team members, ensuring smooth service delivery and timely execution.
- Address guest requests and concerns during events, providing professional and timely resolutions.
- Manage daily deposits, tip distribution, and completion of opening and closing paperwork.
- Assist in training and mentoring new banquet team members to maintain high performance standards.
- Serve food and beverages to guests, adhering to the established sequence of service.
- Operate bars and handle cash transactions, ensuring responsible alcohol service per TIPS certification standards.
- Attend pre-event meetings to review BEOs and communicate updates or changes to the banquet team.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the Banquet Manager to ensure all necessary supplies are available.
- Support other outlets across the property as needed, contributing to the overall success of the team.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in banquet or high-volume restaurant service, with supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and staff in a fast-paced environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage service, including alcohol service and point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to read and execute detailed event orders and coordinate staff accordingly.
- Exceptional communication skills, with a focus on guest service and team collaboration.
- Moderate computer skills and experience managing deposits, tip distributions, and event reports.
- Clean driving record with the ability to operate company vehicles as needed.
- Commitment to guest and employee satisfaction, with a passion for hospitality and effective communication.
- TIPS and ServSafe certifications are preferred.
Compensation Description:
$24.00 - $26.00/hr Competitive pay commensurate with education and experience.

Due to the nature of our 24-hour operation, there is no guaranteed work schedule. Managers will try to accommodate specific schedule requests, but they are never guaranteed if business volume prohibits.
