Principle Purpose of Job
The Meetings and Special Events Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, upselling, and executing group events and weddings as assigned. This position may also assist the Sales team as needed. Experience in Banquets and/or Catering facilitating successful group events at resort properties is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own the planning communication and external/internal paperwork for assigned groups and/or weddings.
- Possess current, up-to-date knowledge pertaining to all DTR products, pricing, and strategies relevant to groups and/or weddings.
- Conduct site visits, planning meetings, property tours and menu tastings.
- Increase revenues by up-selling food, beverage, activities, spa, non-catered dining, amenities/retail, etc.
- Provide timely and accurate communication to all operating departments through Group Resumes, Banquet Events Orders (BEOs), along with other pertinent electronic and/or verbal communication as required.
- Maintain positive and productive relationships with all internal departments and individuals.
- Presents high levels of customer service both externally and internally.
- Ensure daily interaction with clients/planners while in-house. Advance all functions to ensure set-up and menu is presented/executed to clients’ expectations per the Group Resume/BEOs.
- Offer a review of Banquet Checks and/or Final Billing upon the completion of program as required.
- Work with Accounting on final invoicing as required.
- Prepare follow-up communications to groups and /or weddings, including “thank you” notes” group business client satisfaction surveys, etc.
- Perform any and all other duties pertinent to the overall success of our Sales and Events teams as assigned.
- College degree and CMP preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of hospitality Event Planning/Management experience (preferably in a full-service resort environment).
- Must have strong organizational skills (written and verbal) and computer skills. Resort Suite, or similar Sales and Catering software, a plus.
- Superior organizational and follow-up skills.
- Outgoing, personable, friendly personality.
- Extremely strong attention to detail.
- Adaptability, capable of multi-tasking.
Compensation Description:
$60,000 - $70,000/year Competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time position with an expectation of working 50 hours a week on average.

Due to the nature of our 24-hour operation, there is no guaranteed work schedule. Managers will try to accommodate specific schedule requests, but they are never guaranteed if business volume prohibits.
