Job Title: Lab Technician
Location :: Myerstown, PA 17067
Pay Range : 20 – 25/HR On W2 Without Benefit
Shift Timing : 1st Shift and Night Both Available
Main Purpose
The 1st Shift Lab Technician is responsible for processing all incoming raw materials, intermediates, bulk, and finished product samples, including purchased materials and production batches. This role involves performing standard physical and chemical analysis per approved procedures to ensure compliance with written specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Compliance:
- Adhere to Corporate and Plant safety programs, GMPs, ISO standards, and other regulatory requirements.
- Process and log all incoming laboratory samples, including individual and composite batch samples.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis on raw materials, in-process products, bulk, and finished goods per approved procedures, NF, and USP standards.
- Perform physical testing on incoming stability samples.
- Assist in non-compliance investigations related to in-process work.
- Prepare laboratory reagent solutions and sample grinds as needed.
- Ensure accurate, clear, legible, and complete documentation of sample processing, test results, maintenance, calibration, inventory, and training records.
- Document test results in laboratory notebooks, form sheets, and SAP-QM. Report all non-compliance results to the supervisor.
- Review and evaluate documentation and test results to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to specifications.
Laboratory Maintenance & Safety:
- Perform glassware washing and maintain adequate levels of clean glassware.
- Monitor pipette baths and drying desiccators.
- Submit work orders for laboratory maintenance and review/change refrigerator chart recorders.
- Handle hazardous waste, monitor inventory, and manage recycle/waste drums.
- Participate in laboratory safety audits and solvent disposal activities.
- File laboratory documentation and review records for accuracy.
- Update and revise testing procedures, SOPs, and monographs as needed.
- Perform housekeeping tasks and other duties as assigned.
Key Working Relationships
- Attend Level 1 team meetings and Level 2 cross-functional meetings.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing teams to resolve testing, documentation, and scheduling issues.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate degree in Science is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant post-high school education or experience in the sciences.
- Skills:
- Strong English reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, accuracy in testing, and clear documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience in GMP or government-regulated industries is preferred.
- Proficiency in personal computer (PC) applications.
