Overview:
Dexter Senior Center is seeking an energetic, creative, and forward-thinking individual to join our team as Program Manager. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing programs, events, and services that engage current and prospective members. The ideal candidate will foster a welcoming environment that promotes meaningful connections, encourages participation, and enriches the lives of older adults in our community.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design, schedule, supervise, or facilitate programs, activities, and events, including educational workshops, social events, fitness classes, and arts and crafts.
- Oversee daily programs and services, ensuring they are meaningful and engaging for DSC members.
- Set up and take down tables, chairs, and supplies for activities and events as needed.
- Recruit program instructors and collaborate with community organizations, service clubs, and other resources to advance programming and promote involvement.
- Track program participation, maintain individual attendance files, and evaluate programs to recommend improvements.
- Assist with social media and community outreach.
- Prepare reports and summaries as requested.
- Assist with recruiting and supervising volunteers to support the center’s operations and activities.
- Handle program registration and payments and assist with typical office functions, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, sorting mail, and opening and closing the Center.
- Create and distribute the monthly newsletter and other promotional materials featuring program activities, events, and announcements. Work with the Executive Director to craft and promote stories about DSC for local media outlets.
- Communicate regularly with members, families, caregivers, and local organizations to identify needs, gather feedback, and inform programming.
- Notify the Executive Director of any issues in a timely manner and prepare a written monthly membership and program summary.
- Assist with program budget planning and manage expenses within allocated budgets.
- Represent DSC at special events and meetings, which may occasionally occur on weekends or in the evening, to promote programs and community engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology, Social Work, Recreation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in program coordination, event planning, or working with older adults.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace, and familiarity with social media platforms.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for working with older adults.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
