The Sr. Human Resources Generalist (Bilingual-Spanish) supports DNA’s overall talent management strategy and is critical to designing, developing, and executing key HR programs that foster a positive employee culture. This role leads and executes initiatives related to talent acquisition management, health & welfare benefits administration, compliance, leave administration (including FMLA and Workers’ Compensation), and serves as the first point of contact for employees when benefits inquiries arise. In collaboration with the Human Resources Director, the Senior Human Resources Generalist assists, as needed, with general policy development & design, employee engagement & recognition efforts (including event planning, service awards, etc.), and ultimately ensures HR functional excellence is attained.
Essential Functions/Duties:
- Responsible for talent acquisition management to include full-life cycle recruiting of non-exempt and exempt
positions; fulfills temporary staffing needs partnering with approved staffing vendors.
- Assists with employer branding initiatives intended to attract and retain talent; ensures a great candidate onboarding experience.
- Conducts new employee orientation and enters new hire information in the HRIS system.
- Conducts benefits enrollment sessions and training for newly eligible employees.
- Administers employee benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, H S A, 401k, FMLA and non-FMLA leave requests, etc.
- Plans and executes benefits training & wellness program activities to incentivize participation, improve employee wellbeing, and overall manage medical claims costs.
- Creates and maintains benefits communications (in English and Spanish) ensuring accuracy and tailoring the content to meet the needs of the audience.
- Partners with the HR Director, benefits broker and carriers to assess and design market competitive benefit plans; participates in strategy meetings to review current benefit programs, utilization, internal processes, systems and provides recommendations.
- Manages and executes the annual Benefits Open Enrollment process.
- Prepares and presents company-wide presentations for open enrollment, benefits orientation, and related new programs and/or policies.
- Assists with Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance and reporting requirements.
- Assists with all compliance matters including annual Summary Plan Description updates and distribution.
- Manages COBRA administration.
- Reviews monthly benefit invoices and staffing invoices for accuracy and works closely with the Accounting department to approve invoices for payment.
- Ensures compliance with all federal programs such as HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, ADA, ACA, etc.
- Handles worker’s compensation claims and maintains related documentation and notices.
- Assists with employee engagement & recognition efforts as necessary.
- Assists with policy interpretation, guidance and support to all employees as needed
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, HR Management, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in human resources role including benefits administration
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)—Ability to speak, read and write fluently
- High degree of professionalism and confidentiality
- Proven record of maintaining confidential information and exercising solid judgement around sensitive matters
- Working knowledge of benefit concepts, laws, compliance, and regulations
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication (oral and written) skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to multi-task
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with managers, employees, and HR team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other applicable business applications
- PHR or SPHR designation highly preferred
- ADP experience preferred
