The Opportunity: We are seeking a full-time SBA 7(a) Business Development Officer to serve businesses covering Metro Detroit. This role is responsible for developing and structuring SBA 7(a) loans to small and medium-sized businesses.
The SBA 7(a) Business Development Officer (BDO) will actively prospect and network within local markets to identify and establish new SBA client relationships for DFCU Financial. This role will focus on building and maintaining a strong referral network, working closely with internal and external centers of influence, commercial referral sources, and the Business Banking team.
For this role, candidates must have strong knowledge of SBA 7(a) loan products to support small business growth in this key Michigan market.
What You'll Do:
Generate and close a minimum of $12 million in SBA 7(a) loans each calendar year. Goals may change at credit union discretion.
Provide exceptional service to internal and external customers in accordance with DFCU Financial values of collaboration and professionalism.
Structure loan proposals, complete initial underwriting and prepare a background narrative outlining the request before submitting to underwriting with support of SBA Program Director.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of SBA standard operating procedures.
Contribute to the success of the SBA department by sharing in all department responsibilities as required or assigned.
Attend community networking events, as required.
Work occasional Saturday hours or extended weekday hours, as required.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field.
3-5 years of experience as an SBA Business Development Officer.
Self-driven with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated sales ability, influences with impact.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication.
