The Opportunity: We are seeking a full time SBA Business Development Officer to join our team. The SBA Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible to develop and structure loans and market other credit union products and services to Small Business Administration (SBA) eligible small and medium sized business. Prospect and network in local markets to identify and develop new SBA client relationships for DFCU Financial. Maintain and build a network of prospects by working with internal and external centers of influence, commercial referral sources, and the Business Banking team to develop new SBA business relationships. Once a relationship is established and the initial transaction is complete, the BDO transfers the client to a Business Banker to deepen and expand the long-term banking relationship. Identify, market and sell SBA loan products.
What You'll Do:
Generate and close a minimum of $10 million in SBA 7(a) loans each calendar year. Goals may change at credit union discretion.
Provide exceptional service to internal and external customers in accordance with DFCU Financial values of collaboration and professionalism.
Structure loan proposals, complete initial underwriting and prepare a background narrative outlining the request before submitting to underwriting with support of SBA Program Director.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of SBA standard operating procedures.
Contribute to the success of the SBA department by sharing in all department responsibilities as required or assigned.
Attend community networking events, as required.
Work occasional Saturday hours or extended weekday hours, as required.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field.
2 years of experience as an SBA Business Development Officer.
Self-driven with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated sales ability; influences with impact.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication.
