Lab Technician II

POSITION SUMMARY

The Laboratory Technician II performs all routine laboratory analysis of juice, must and wine.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform routine analysis of grape samples, juice, must, and wine according to Rays Station Laboratory SOPs.
• Safely perform wet chemistry and enzymatic analyses.
• Prepare and standardize laboratory solutions.
• Sample collection and preparation.
• Perform wine sterility analysis.
• Prepare blending and fining trials.
• Assist with laboratory housekeeping.
• Write SOPs and reports as needed.
• Other duties as required by the wine making team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• An interest in winemaking and wine production.
• A bachelors degree in a technical field, preferred. An associate degree with an emphasis in science will be considered.
• Equivalent experience in a winery lab or cellar will be considered.
• Basic microbiology experience a plus
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Share point.
• Commitment to excellence and high standards.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be able to work unsupervised and adapt to changing priorities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Bilingual in Spanish and English, a plus

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Stand for extended periods as required by job duties.
• Work safely, both indoors and out, in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders safely.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Work overtime as required and cover any shift with reasonable notice.

WORK HOURS: 40 hrs/week; Mon-Thur, 12-8:30pm; and, Fri, 7:30-4pm

SALARY RANGE: $23 - $25 / hour. This hourly base salary range reflects the expected hiring range for this position. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within California and refers to the amount DFG Beverage is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate's geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
