Job Overview
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general direction, is responsible for issuing, activating, and deactivating a variety of security access media for controlled areas; capturing biometric identifiers; assisting in the completion of periodic audits of security access media and revenue; reviewing and maintaining criminal history records check (CHRC) results; communicating in writing, in person and on the telephone; and using a variety of software to maintain Airport Board records.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews a variety of Access DFW applications for completeness; determines applicants’ identity and employment authorization in accordance with Federal regulations; ensures appropriate authorization is present prior to processing applications; and ensures a variety of security access media are issued and maintained in accordance with Federal regulations, Airport Board and Department of Public Safety (DPS) policies and procedures.
- Ensures the accuracy of data entered into Access DFW databases.
- Ensures the daily and monthly uploads of biographical and sensitive security information are accurate and are completed in accordance with Federal regulations.
- Ensures a current Security Threat Assessment approval is received from the Transportation Security Administration prior to issuing security access media.
- Captures a variety of biometric identifiers in accordance with Federal regulations and DPS policies and procedures using a variety of technical equipment.
- Reviews and maintains criminal history records check (CHRC) results and forwards CHRCs that contain criminal violations to appropriate DPS personnel for review.
- Coordinates the addition and removal of Customs access with appropriate personnel in Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection.
- Oversees security training and ensures Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge applicants have successfully completed security training prior to SIDA badge issuance; and accurately maintains security training records.
- Instructs applicants in the proper use/application of various security access media. Receives and resolves customer issues regarding Access DFW services; periodically follows up with customers until final disposition of issues are reached; refers customer issues to the Security Access Supervisor when necessary; communicates effectively, accurately and in a courteous manner with customers in person, in writing and on the telephone.
- Reviews, maintains, stores and protects Access DFW records in accordance with Federal regulations, Airport Board policies and procedures and Texas records retention laws; and prepares and arranges for the storage of Access DFW records in the Airport Board’s records storage facility.
- Accurately collects fees for various security access media in accordance with the Airport Board’s current Schedule of Charges; accurately reconciles and reports Airport Board revenue collected; accurately maintains, identifies and prepares a report of billable fees; and prepares credit memoranda in accordance with Airport Board and DPS policies and procedures.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Cont.):
- Accurately logs, tracks and reconciles the issuance, loss, theft, return and destruction of control numbered items; and reports lost or stolen control numbered items immediately to the Security Access Supervisor.
- Uses a variety of software to gather, compose, prepare and maintain statistical data and prepare statistical reports, memoranda, letters and other correspondence.
- Accurately inventories, audits, and reports on the inventories and audits of control numbered items.
- Exercises initiative, good judgment, professionalism and discretion when working with internal and external customers and visitors.
- Maintains the security and confidentiality of the sensitive security information and data contained within Access DFW.
- May perform additional security duties and responsibilities as necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.
- Two (2) years work experience that includes data entry and work in a detailed oriented position.
- Two (2) years customer service experience.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
- Has not been convicted of a Felony, Class A and/or Class B Misdemeanor criminal offense.
- Has not been convicted of any family violence offense.
- Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Skill in the operation of standard office equipment, including but not limited to personal computer, telephone, fax machines, copiers and calculators.
- Skill in using word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
- Ability to understand, speak, read and write English proficiently.
- Ability to comprehend and understand pertinent Federal and state codes and regulations.
- Ability to receive, process, maintain and protect the confidentiality of sensitive security information.
- Ability to deal effectively, courteously and fairly with angry and emotional customers.
- Ability to perform intermediate business math computations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.
- Ability to prepare and maintain various databases and reports with accuracy.
- Ability to communicate clearly, courteously and effectively in person, in writing and on the telephone.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to accurately maintain a variety of manual and computerized logs and filing systems.
- Ability to undergo a perpetual fingerprint-based criminal history records check that results in no convictions of Felony, Class A and/or Class B Misdemeanor criminal offenses.
- Ability to understand and adhere to the Airport Board’s safety, security and fire protection policies when performing assigned work on Airport property.
- Ability to pass a drug test.

DESIRABLE:
- Experience in the military, law enforcement and/or a security field.
- Multi-lingual.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
- Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
- This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.
