Job Overview
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position leads DFW Airport’s innovation programs and manages the efforts of Project Manager(s) who provide general project support across cross functional teams. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, fostering a culture of accountability, and guiding the implementation phases of transformative innovation programs. Reporting to the VP of Innovation, the PMO Leader will orchestrate team activities, manage reporting processes, ensure goal alignment, and serve as the escalation point for project challenges.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads a team of Project Managers and Coordinators, setting clear goals and expectations aligned with organizational priorities. Creates standard operating procedures and promotes best practices to ensure high productivity and quality across all projects (leveraging systems for project management, innovation tracking, etc.). Develops and implements templates and frameworks to streamline Innovation team operations, monthly and annual reporting, and individual goal tracking. Serves as the escalation point for project challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams and organizational leaders to drive resolution. Monitors project health, risk, and quality through performance metrics and reporting mechanisms and presents to leadership of high-priority implementation efforts. Acts as a bridge between the Innovation PMO and key stakeholders, including Procurement, IT, Legal, and Marketing, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment. Provides coaching and mentorship to project managers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Applies expertise in regulated industries, aviation, and emerging technologies to test and pilot innovative solutions that address customer needs in order to drive operational efficiency, safety and security. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- Five (5) plus years of experience in project management, innovation, product development, or management consulting function.
- Three (3) plus of years in a supervisory role.
DESIRED:
- PMP certification and/or experience leading a PMO.
- Passion for innovation, technology, aviation, or travel.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge with project management tools and their effective use in managing projects.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
- Ability to document progress on projects and tasks, develop standard operating procedures, and ensure compliance to business processes.
- Ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects in highly regulated industries.
- Ability to develop actionable plans to achieve long-term organizational goals.
- Ability to create a culture of ownership and responsibility.
- Skilled at engaging with stakeholders at all levels to align on priorities and drive outcomes.
- Ability to work on multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
- Ability to present and influence decisions of others.
- Ability to manage programs within highly regulated industries.
- Ability to write requests for proposals (RFP), develop scopes of work (SOW), and reporting of contractual information.
- Ability to create dashboards and maintenance in Tableau, Power BI or equivalent.
- Ability to write executive summaries and communicate with Senior leadership.
