Role Overview
The Controller will oversee the company's accounting operations and financial reporting. This leadership role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and managing the accounting team. Working closely with the CFO, the Controller will support financial strategy, provide timely financial data, and safeguard the companys financial health.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
Lead external audits and manage auditor relationships.
Strong knowledge of tax accounting, laws, and real estate transactions.
Accounting Operations
Oversee daily accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger.
Ensure timely closing of monthly, quarterly, and year-end processes.
Implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to protect company assets.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist the CFO with the companys annual budget and financial forecasts.
Provide variance analysis and insights to support decision-making.
Monitor performance against the budget to identify improvement areas.
Cash Flow Management
Manage cash flow, working capital, and payment processes.
Ensure timely payments, collections, and bank account reconciliations.
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a high-performance culture.
Conduct training and development to enhance team skills.
System & Process Improvements
Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements.
Work with IT to optimize financial systems (ERP) for efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
7 years of accounting or finance experience, with 3 years in management.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Proficient in financial software (ERP systems preferred).
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize effectively.
