Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various medical settings, including PICU, inpatient care, and medical-surgical environments. This role is essential in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring smooth operations within our clinic or hospital medicine departments. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting healthcare professionals in delivering effective treatment and support to patients across different specialties, including geriatrics and internal medicine.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians and nursing staff with patient examinations and procedures.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Perform routine clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, drawing blood, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including coding and documentation of medical histories.
- Coordinate patient flow within the clinic or hospital setting to optimize efficiency.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medication administration, and follow-up care.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in settings such as PICU, inpatient care, or medical-surgical units.
- Familiarity with coding systems and electronic health record (EHR) management.
- Strong knowledge of hospital medicine practices and protocols.
- Experience in geriatrics or internal medicine is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent is preferred.
