SUMMARY:
This role oversees the operation and performance of all US transportation vendors to include sourcing, qualifying of all vendors, oversees carrier vendor performance, and relationships; creates, issues and enforces contracts and amendments, on-boards new vendors, and interfaces with cross-functional teams to ensure satisfaction with vendor performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor transportation vendors to include contracts, amendments, on-boarding, performance reporting/monitoring to ensure satisfactory quality and compliance within contract terms and conditions.
- Interface with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (DOT & CSA) and vendors ensuring acceptable FMCSA-bestowed grade in compliance with DHL eCommerce (DHLeC) standards.
- Proactively supervise and design solutions for our transportation capacity across the DHLeC network.
- Vendor claim tracking and management.
- Develop and maintain appropriate accessorial agreements.
- Monitor regulatory documentation for accuracy, expiration dates and compliance.
- Monitor rate agreement and contract expiration dates and/or when vendor performance is unsatisfactory to engage management.
- Write, modify and issue contract awards and amendments.
- Interface with cross functional teams (Operations, Loss Prevention, IT and Finance) to ensure quality and satisfaction from all parties.
- Develop and retain productive, effective vendor relationships.
- Strictly enforce all contract terms and conditions.
- Schedule carrier visits to maintain and improve relationships with DHLeC.
- Track, negotiate when appropriate, rates and routing options.
- Monitor, maintain and update general data such as contact information, branches, dispatch locations and others within the Transportation Management System (OTM).
- Resolve performance issues with vendor carriers.
- Coordinate, assign, and track invoice queries within the internal cross functional teams.
- Advise vendors of cost, rate, charge discrepancies, corresponds with vendors to adjust charges on paid invoices.
- Assist vendors in complying with DHLeC service regulatory, rate, and invoicing requirements.
- Monitor vendor regulatory documentation to ensure accuracy, expiration dates and compliance.
- Responsible to maintain proper files for all vendors and update the files when needed.
- Research vendors and provide feedback on findings to management team.
- Claims administrative duties for cargo loss and incident management.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management, related degree, or equivalent industry experience.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in related field.
- Experience working within the mail, small package, and parcel market.
- Experience utilizing Oracle Transportation Management software, Salesforce.
- FTL, LTL, Air, and local courier experience.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment.
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
- Knowledge of DOT Hours of service regulations and security policies.
- Knowledge of FMCSA safety policies, requirements, and grading system.
- Knowledge of vendor contract/agreement legal terms, conditions, CFR 49.
- Negotiating skills.
- Able to hold people accountable.
- Excellent decision-making skills in time sensitive and very detailed environment.
- Team oriented, able to work cross-functionally with collaboration as a key factor.
- Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding and comprehension of project and quality management
- Very strong computer skills and expert level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products – especially Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Oracle Transportation Management System or other similar Transportation Management Systems.
- Power BI and Power Automate Experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking skills. (analyze, evaluate, interpret information in a logical and systematic way)
