POSITION SUMMARY:
Position is responsible for performing diagnostic radiological procedures in a timely manner, according to physician's orders. in the patient's chart or per prescription on out patients. The Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist is responsible for working collaboratively with other team members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of patient care. In addition, the Limited Medical Radiology Technologist must be able and willing to help in other areas of the department, having a phlebotomy certificate the LMRT will act as phlebotomist but radiology exams will be the priority. The Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist will also be responsible for quality control on the x-ray unit and maintaining the EKG unit.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS :
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Graduate from an accredited LMRT education program
- Current state certification (TDH) required with limited certificate issued in the following categories:
- Skull, extremity, chest and spine
- BLS certification required, if not on hire, has six months to obtain certification
- Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues
- Administrative and organizational skills are necessary
- Good verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to read, write, and speak English required, Spanish preferred
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
- Hospital or MD office experience preferred
- Computer/EMR knowledge required
- Excellent customer service skills are required

Responsibilities:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others
- Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices
- Prepares and orders necessary supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures, and works in urgent patients as needed
- Performs necessary quality control and maintenance on equipment and keeps logs updated for TJC inspection
- Responsible for the care and cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work area
- Responsible for performing radiological procedures in a timely manner
- Performs radiologic procedures as per procedure protocols, optimizing imaging examinations to use only the radiation necessary to produce diagnostic-quality images
- Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and directions
- Completes accurate documentation on patient records in the EMR according to policy
- Answers patient inquiries as needed via phone or in person
- Able to perform the necessary functions on the facility's computer systems
- Ensures exams are verified and completed for charging on PACS/RIS/synapse systems
- Ensures charges are given to billing area for daily billing, may be responsible to help with auditing of charges from the Radiology area
- Maintain Texas Department of Health (TDH), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and The Joint Commission standards
- Maintain equipment and procedure competencies
- As a phlebotomy tech, performs phlebotomy procedures via provider orders received as needed to facilitate clinic work flow
- Able to operate all appropriate clinical equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
- Complete and update all employment requirements, including but not limited to: Health.edu, Employee Health, credentials, and radiology competencies, etc.

B. Working Conditions : The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
