Context/Scope: The Global Audit function is a key component of Diageo’s governance framework, promoting the improvement of governance, risk management, controls and compliance by: • Giving independent assurance over the quality of Diageo’s management of its key risks; • Supporting Diageo to enforce clear standards on governance, risk management controls and compliance and maintain excellent management assurance processes; and • Supporting the Audit Committee and Executive management to understand Diageo’s key risks and risk management capability across the business. The role will be a part of a truly global diverse team of about 35 individuals based across hubs including London, New York City, Bangalore, Budapest and Shanghai. Financial Responsibility: This role has no specific financial responsibilities, e.g. managing budgets. Successful candidates will develop a deep understanding of Diageo’s primary financial and operational processes, as well as build relationships across finance and other functions, as well as Diageo’s key markets. Market Complexity: Global Audit provides assurance over all Diageo operations including our markets, Supply operations and Global Functions, as well as global processes. Audits are delivered to a high-quality standard with a risk lens and in accordance with Global Audit's Ways of Working. Leadership Responsibilities: Win through Execution - Impactful and can ‘stand your ground’ where required with senior partners. Quickly build strong relationships in fieldwork with business partners. - Demonstrate an understanding of business risks across multiple process areas. - Ensure audit results and key risks are well understood and accepted by leaders. Need to influence and strategically manage conflicts where these arise. Deliver thoughtful and value-adding insights on audit assignments that convince leaders to take actions that enhance Diageo's performance and or risk / control environment. - Empowered to articulate effective and efficient risk mitigation strategies. Demonstrate thorough and consistent knowledge and application of our ways of working (WoW). - Own business partnering relationships with business leaders and mid-management outside of audits. Provide ongoing proactive advice and support to help those leaders better anticipate and respond to risks. Inspire through Purpose - Understand the Diageo Purpose (specifically the importance of governance & compliance), and can clearly articulate how others can understand, connect to and help deliver it. Shape the Future - Apply root cause and data driven analysis to support the development of impactful business insights and efficiency opportunities. - Partner with the business in finding solutions for risks and opportunities. - Understand the internal and external risk radar to enable the business to identify solutions to existing and emerging risks. Invest in Talent - Provide functional support and coaching to less experienced team members. - Leverage strengths within Global Audit and the wider business, and have humility to be open to ideas and learnings from others. - Grow both functional and leadership capability and experience. Purpose of Role: To provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of risk management and control procedures across the business and to highlight any particular risk and opportunity areas. To enable Global Audit to achieve our strategic goals of being the ‘Best Audit & Risk Team in its Peer Group’ and the ‘Best Place to Build a Career’. Top 3-5 Accountabilities: Assurance Assignments: Delivery of holistic risk management and internal audits in line with the function’s Ways of Working to provide assurance on the effectiveness of risk management and control procedures. Risk Champion: Provide insights and solutions that promote effective and efficient business governance, enhanced controls, and better risk management. Support governance, risk, and compliance across the business by providing regular guidance to functional and business unit management. Business Partnering: Global Audit relationship responsibility for key elements of the business (to be determined by the Global Audit & Risk Director on a role by role basis). This responsibility includes acting as the Global Audit contact for business unit and/or hub management, communicating Global Audit’s assurance plans and changes to Diageo’s risk approach over time. Qualifications and Experience Required Essential Criteria: • Audit or Controls experience in either ‘Big 4’ environment or Diageo / a similar multinational entity. • Proven experience in a multinational corporate environment • Proficient spoken and written English • Degree-qualified in Finance, Accounting, Science or related field • Ability to travel as required for audits (up to 30% of role will be based on-site at various Diageo sites across the world) Preferred Criteria: • Second-language skills highly regarded, especially Spanish, Mandarin, or Hindi • Experience with ESG, Data Privacy, and/or IT assurance • Diageo commercial (finance) or supply (finance) experience The successful candidate will also demonstrate effortless familiarity with core financial concepts, Microsoft Excel, and analytical skills. Microsoft Power BI is not a prerequisite but must be learned on the job. Barriers to Success in Role Inability to work as part of a global dynamic team, or to build effective relationships.
