What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Chef position at Diakon?

General Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ordering, receiving and preparing food for youth at the Wilderness center. In addition, the position is responsible for ensuring the compliance with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standard
- Manages the dietary operation of the assigned facility by performing the following duties:
- Responds appropriately to employee reports of suspected violations of the Code of Conduct, Corporate Compliance Program and related policies and procedures, and/or applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards.
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
- Prepares staff schedules; ensures at least eight (8) hours of coverage per day.
- Assists in the development of diets and menus to fulfill nutritional needs of the residents in accordance with the NSLP guidelines.
- Assures the preparation of food to conserve nutritive value, flavor, and appearance and the serving of food at proper temperature.
Education/Training: A high school diploma or equivalent; graduate of a state-approved course that provides 90 or more hours of classroom instruction in food service supervision; an Associate's degree in Food Service Management preferred.
Experience: A minimum two (2) years' experience in food service management, preferably in a long-term clinical care setting.
ADA: Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. ; visual and auditory skills.
