What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Biomedical Technician position at Dialysis Center of Lincoln NE?
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Lead Biomedical Technician at the Dialysis Center of Lincoln Inc. is responsible for the daily
operations and supervision of the biomedical team, including overseeing facility projects and the
biomedical costs, quality and staffing. Manages Biomedical Technicians including the hiring, promotion,
discipline, professional development, and terminations as needed with approval from the Director of
Operations. Collaborates with Administration, Medical Directors and the interdisciplinary team
members to accomplish facility goals.
Adherence to all of the Dialysis Center of Lincoln Inc. policies and procedures is mandatory. The Lead
Biomedical Technician must enforce adherence to the Conditions of Coverage requirements; monitor
quality assurance and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, CMS, and
other governing agencies.)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two years’ education in electronics strongly preferred.
3. Minimum of 3 years of experience providing repair and maintenance service to dialysis facilities
required.
4. Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising biomedical service teams preferred.
5. Manufacturer’s certification for equipment that is predominantly used strongly preferred for
dialysis machines and facility water systems.
6. Valid driver’s license in the state of Nebraska. Driving record must meet insurance liability
requirements.
7. Strong business and organizational skills: Proficiency with identifying, defining and resolving
problems; developing systemic solutions.
8. Strong project planning skills, organizational skills, process improvement skills, ability to manage
projects to meet specific deadlines.
9. Ability to drive implementations and improvements proactively
10. Effective, positive written and oral communications skills.
11. Willingness and ability to work additional hours with little or no notice, beyond the regular
work week as needed.
12. Computer skills sufficient to effectively utilize the Web, Word and Excel.

2. Manages equipment and labor costs and maintains an effective system of biomedical financial
and business records and facility reports.
3. Reviews and/or approves purchases of maintenance and repair parts, tools, test equipment and
capital equipment.
4. Ensures optimal biomedical staffing plans to promote the most efficient utilization of biomedical
teammates in collaboration with Director of Operations.
5. Uses or implements reports and tools to help ensure biomed-related budgets are achieved.
6. Manages, minimizes and optimizes the use of overtime by Biomedical Teammates.
7. Develops optimal on-call coverage and schedules to demonstrate both stewardship and concern
for Biomedical Technicians’ quality of life issues.
8. Ensures compliance with the Dialysis Center of Lincoln Inc. policy and procedures as well as
state and federal regulations.
9. Participates as needed in on-site inspections by state or federal surveyors when notified.
10. Understands and applies the Dialysis Center of Lincoln Inc. policy and procedures to clinical staff
operation of dialysis machines, water treatment systems and ancillary medical equipment and
when troubleshooting or assisting Biomedical troubleshooting activities.
11. Reviews monthly biomedical QAPI reporting and ensures appropriate follow up for any
deficiencies.
12. Maintains an effective system for quality, compliance and risk management records and facility
reports.
13. Supervises the biomedical team including the hiring, promotion, discipline, professional
development and termination as needed with approval from the Director of Operations.
14. Monitors and evaluates all Biomedical Technicians to assure a consistently high standard of
performance.
15. Communicates and enforce policies and procedures to biomedical and dialysis staff.
16. Creates and fosters an environment of trust and effective, open communication within the
biomedical team and with operations and clinical teams.
17. Serves as a technical, professional resource to provide in-services and activities related to
technical services, proactively meeting and anticipating needs.
18. Ensures Annual Skills-Competency completion for each Biomed Technician as required.
19. Other special projects as assigned.
