Assistant Plant Operator - Construction

We have been in the heavy highway construction business, focusing on concrete grinding, repair and sealing, for 30 years. We are a rapidly growing, team-oriented company looking to grow our workforce specifically, at our concrete slurry plant in Asheville, North Carolina.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitoring and assisting with overall daily operation of slurry plant 
  • Set/up take down of plant at the beginning and end of projects
• Assist with maintenance as needed including shoveling, chipping, cleaning, greasing and general upkeep of the plant and surrounding area
  
• Direct vehicle traffic/signal equipment operators as needed
• Operation of dump truck and/or loader
  • Wash out dump trucks as needed
• Use hand and/or power tools as needed
• Communicate effectively with other laborers, operators and supervisors
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/JOB SKILLS:

• Construction labor experience
• Valid driver's license

• Ability to life 50lbs or more as needed
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to stay with equipment for long periods of time
• Ability to climb or crawl on equipment occasionally and on the ground to work on equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Outside environment, exposure to all weather conditions and temperature extremes. Site specific exposure to various materials requiring proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Noise levels are site specific and may be subject to PPE.
  
• Extensive over the road travel required in some cases

• Working day shifts, night shifts or a combination of both
• Some work is done at heights around 30ft. as well as some confined space work
