Blue Water Industries, a growing aggregate producer, is currently seeking to fill a Plant Operator position at the Yancey Quarry in Burnsville, NC. Blue Water Industries offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k plan, paid time off and paid holidays.
Plant Operator Position Requirements
The primary requirements of the Plant Operator include, but are not limited to, assisting in managing the performance of day-to-day operational activities of safe production as well as mobile equipment maintenance. The Plant Operator also assists in training and developing a safe and efficient hourly production workforce through use of the company’s safety policies and procedures and MSHA regulations. Additional responsibilities include meeting production and cost goals, quality control, and other functions as assigned by management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follow all safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures as set forth by company policies and MSHA.
- Follow all company policies and local, state and federal regulations for safe working procedures.
- Ensure that all hourly production employees under your area of responsibility receive competent task training to safely perform their job duties and that such training is properly documented in a timely manner.
- Assist management in investigating, determining root cause and finding a collective resolution to all incidents and safety concerns.
- Assist in managing all daily activities of all hourly production, maintenance, and support personnel.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure all safety and maintenance items are addressed and corrected in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all pre-operational inspections and daily workplace inspections are completed and paperwork is turned in daily.
- Ensure that all mobile equipment on site is properly maintained.
- Ability and knowledge to operate and monitor equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance and pre-shift inspections; repair and/or clean equipment as needed.
- Responsible for overall housekeeping including plant, assigned mobile equipment, and site.
- Responsible for directing other hourly employees during daily tasks.
- Ability to comprehend and complete all needed paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Regular and reliable attendance at the worksite.
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned by management as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Previous mining experience with a general understanding of aggregate plant operation with automation, mobile equipment, and associated plant equipment is highly preferred.
- Willingness to perform other duties as needed, including heavy labor and maintenance.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime and weekends as required.
- Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.
