Diamonds Bar & Grill in Kihei is looking for line/prep cooks to join our crew! As a local scratch kitchen, line cooks do more than just assemble food for the masses. We focus on quality, at a value locals can afford to enjoy. Very few things on the menu are prepackaged, so cooks actually get to cook and grow their skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
- Following recipes for our standard menu items
- Creating Daily Specials in cooperation with chef
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Maintain work area within appropriate health standards
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Preferred Skills
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedure
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a restaurant setting
- Strong food handling and service skills
- Demonstrated culinary experience with a focus on meal preparation
- Familiarity with dietary department operations and menu planning
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in food presentation
- Background in catering and serving preferred
