What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Product Development & Packaging position at DIBS Beauty?
DIBS is seeking a Director of Product Development and Packaging, reporting to the Vice President of Brand Marketing. This is an exciting opportunity to join a young brand in high-growth mode with the ability to make your mark and strongly influence the brand’s pipeline. This position is responsible for executing the 3-year pipeline in partnership with the Vice President of Brand Marketing and the brands’ two co-founders. This individual will own the end-to-end management of each product in development. In addition to overseeing all innovation, this position is responsible for driving all testing, formula ownership discussions, MOCRA certifications, and managing Product Development & Packaging direct reports as well as a regulatory consultant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Lead Product Innovation
Oversee the end-to-end product development process from concept ideation through final production, ensuring all products align with DIBS Beauty's brand identity and innovation strategy.
Be the gatekeeper of all NPD timelines to ensure product development and assembly is meeting retail and E-Commerce deadlines, prioritizing ocean shipping over air throughout the development process, and minimizing unnecessary expenses.
Spearhead functional unique aesthetic packaging solutions that elevate the user experience.
Partner with Marketing, Operations, and Finance to ensure timely launches, high-quality standards, and seamless integration into the broader brand strategy.
Source and manage relationships with global manufacturers, packaging vendors, and raw material suppliers to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
Guarantee all products and packaging meet regulatory, safety, and environmental standards across all markets.
Stay ahead of industry trends and competitor launches to maintain DIBS Beauty’s competitive edge.
Manage budgets for product development and packaging to optimize resources, maintain margin, and maximize ROI.
QUALIFICATIONS :8 years of product development and packaging experience in the beauty industry, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role. Recent experience in color cosmetics is a must, and complexion experience is a big plus.
Strong knowledge of formulations, packaging engineering, tooling and manufacturing processes.
Proven ability to lead and mentor teams while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Experience in a founder-led brand also preferred, this role will work closely with both co-founders.
A keen eye for design and innovation, with the ability to translate market trends into breakthrough product concepts.
Exceptional organizational skills with experience managing complex timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
Comprehensive understanding of global beauty regulations, including FDA, EU, and Ulta / Sephora clean beauty standards.
This job is primarily remote, however New York or Los Angeles home-base is preferred. The expected base salary range for this position is $150,000-$170,000 with an equity opportunity. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget.
