What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Clerk - Construction position at Dick Miller Inc?
Looking for an Accounts Payable clerk for a long-established General Engineering Contractor. The Accounts payable clerk accounting assistant receives, prepares and processes invoices for vendors, subcontractors as well as financial obligations in accordance with internal accounting policies. You will review purchase orders, statements, and invoices to verify the amounts owed. This position will maintain and reconcile accounts payable ledger, respond to vendor inquiries, file electronic and physical copies, and resolve any discrepancies in billings and payments. The ideal candidate has previous experience with accounting at a construction company and knowledge of GAAP. Must be willing to become a notary for the business. Other responsibilities not listed as well.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Sort/scan/save invoices and related documents
- Code invoices to correct job, cost code, and General Ledger account
- route and track invoices for approval, through approval chain
- Credit applications
- Track and save preliminary notices
- Request and save subcontractor / supplier waivers
- Follow up on payment/invoice inquiries
- Set up new Vendors and request W-9 as needed
- Daily input and assist accounting department with additional duties
Skills/Abilities:
- Attention to detail and data entry
- Strong organization and time management skills, ability to prioritize and handle multi-tasking
- Demonstrate solid problem solving skills
- Have a basic understanding of accounts payable and accounting principles
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, MS Project and Outlook
- Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills
- Exhibit discretion and ability to safeguard confidential information
- Bi-lingual Spanish is helpful
Education and Experience:
- high school diploma (with experience), bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous accounts payable experience
- Previous experience in construction company
- Software experience in Foundation preferred
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist: to lift, carry, push and/or pull light to moderate amount of weight (up to 25lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer, telephone, copier and other office equipment as needed. Involves frequent contact with staff. This position requires physical presence at business location during all assigned working hours to perform all duties.
