Job Summary/Basic Function
Dickinson College’s Department of Anthropology and Archaeology seeks a recent Ph.D. or ABD in cultural anthropology, ideally with expertise in medical anthropology, to teach four courses in the 2025–2026 academic year, two sections of introduction to cultural anthropology and two electives in their area of expertise (one of each per semester). Elective courses could potentially also contribute to other programs, including Africana Studies, Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies, Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and Health Studies. The position will come with salary per course and the possibility of contributions to commuter costs.
Dickinson’s Department of Anthropology and Archaeology has 40 anthropology majors and 34 archaeology majors, with five full-time faculty with research interests in cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and archaeology and conducting research in North America, South America, East Africa, and the Mediterranean. We emphasize student engagement in research through our methods and areas of expertise in courses incorporating our three laboratories—biological anthropology, environmental archaeology, and Mediterranean archaeology.
