Job Summary / Basic Function The Department of Psychology at Dickinson College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Health Psychology or Social Psychology beginning Fall 2025.
The successful candidate will teach multiple sections of an introductory course (Introduction to Health Psychology or Introduction to Social Psychology) and a senior-level seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise. Teaching load is five courses across the academic year.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Health Psychology or Social Psychology. We seek an educator and scholar who will teach with passion and possesses a strong commitment to teaching in a liberal arts environment. Our introductory classes have a capacity of 35 students and our seminars have a capacity of 15 students. The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will have access to a well-equipped human subjects research suite, the departmental participant pool, and ample lab space to support their research program; visiting faculty are eligible for all internal research funding sources, and they are welcome to involve our exceptional undergraduates in their research program.
Candidates are also expected to become active and engaged members of our academic community. Desirable candidates will promote diversity, inclusion, and equity at Dickinson through all aspects of employment (i.e., research, teaching, and service).
