The Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Director of Special Education. Key Responsibilities
Oversight and leadership of the Special Education Department, including program organization, staff development, service delivery, evaluation, budget, and finance.
Maintenance of regulatory oversight in processing and reviewing special education data, documentation, and reports to the Department of Education.
Establishment and maintenance of a system to ensure appropriate supervision and evaluation of assigned staff and programs.
Development and maintenance of procedures for budget preparation, management financial accountability, and reporting.
Representation of the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District at State regional and local special education meetings.
General consultation to teachers and administrators from LEA's regarding special education.
Cooperation with public and private agencies, organizations, and professional in securing and providing services for impaired students.
Provision and dissemination of information to LEA's related to State Department directives, codes, guidelines, and current trends.
Promotion of community understanding, support, and involvement with special education programs and services.
Liaison services between the SE Department and LEA's, post-secondary institutions, and other collaborating agencies.
Regular and reliable attendance.
All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Masters Degree.
Full approval in at least one area of Special Education.
Three years of successful professional practice or administrative experience in Special Education or combination thereof.
Fulfill State of Michigan Special Education Rules for Director.
Full or temporary approval as Director of Special Education.
Driving may be necessary for this position which would require a valid driver's license.
