What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Transporter position at Didgwalic Wellness Center?
Were seeking a Patient Transporter to join our team. In this role you will be key in removing barriers to care by safely transporting clients to and from our clinic in our shuttles; to referral appointments, one-on-one with clients and medical staff; and in and around the reservation with the use of our shuttles. The didgwlic Wellness Center is an integrated outpatient substance use disorder clinic that combines primary care, behavioral health, and opiate treatment all under one roof. Our mission is to improve health outcomes with quality health care solutions by removing barriers to treatment. Our comprehensive services include primary care, behavioral health, and opiate treatment in a dedicated care team model. We also go beyond these services to support our clients by offering services like transportation, childcare, dental services, acupuncture, yoga, case management, and even free lunches while onsite.
This role is Tuesday - Saturday.

What Youll Do:
- Transport patients inside and outside of the facility to designated areas.
- Ensure that patient transportation is conducted with the utmost care and in full compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Instruct passengers in requisite safety precautions and practices while riding.
- Establish and maintain communication with patients and coworkers to improve quality of service and customer satisfaction.
- Comfort patients and their families by offering support and encouragement; being punctual and attentive to procedure schedules; demonstrating caring and cultural sensitivity.
- Respect and protect patient confidence and hospital confidentiality.
- Follow all protocols and procedures to ensure safe delivery of patients, their possessions, supplies and laboratory specimens.
- Operate the Wheelchair lift.
- Maintain discipline, report all passenger behavior issues to management.
- Conduct mechanical condition inspections daily for operational performance.
- Ensure that assigned vehicle meets regular maintenance schedules and keeps operational records.
- All other duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager.
Must Haves*
- 21 years of age or older.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must be extremely reliable and punctual.
- Possess a valid Washington State Drivers license and meet eligibility requirements for tribal insurance.
- No DUI convictions within the last 15 years.
- Complete drivers' abstract history from Washington DOL with 5 years of verifiable driving experience. Good driving record.
- 1 year in medical/para transport, passenger transport, emergency vehicle operation, or relevant role preferred.
- Ability to complete First Aid and CPR certification within the first 60 days of employment.
- Ability to pass extensive criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Effective communication; written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
- Tribal affiliation a plus!
