The didgwálic Wellness Center is seeking a friendly and professional Security Guard to join our Bellingham team. This is an essential role as you will help maintain a safe and secure environment for our patients and staff. Aside from having prior experience as a security guard, the ideal candidate is professional, courteous, and has great customer service. In this role you will get to know our patients and have positive interactions with them when they come in for their outpatient visits. 

Additionally, you are responsible for actively monitoring the premises, this includes patrolling our site, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting our buildings, and permitting entry. If you are inspired to serve, we invite you to apply today!  

The didgwálic Wellness Center is an integrated outpatient care clinic that combines primary care, behavioral health, and opiate treatment. Shifts may vary.

What You'll Do

• Provides safety and security services which includes patrolling grounds, parking lots, buildings, securing entryways and exits, monitoring electronic surveillance systems etc. to effectively address potential security issues, loitering, and violations of policy.
• Responds to all alarms and calls 911 for specific services (police, ambulance, or fire) as the situation requires.
• Interacts with local law enforcement officers when needed; provides information and clarification of events.
• Assists the Security Manager in coordinating emergency protocols. In the absence of the Security Manager, provides direct assistance to the facility Director to coordinate emergency procedures.
• Checks for property damage and inspects equipment for safety issues.
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Provides assistance to staff, medical personnel, and clients as needed.
• Monitors electronic checkpoints.
• Activates and deactivates alarm systems.
• Provides escort services for protection of caregivers or patients.
• Provide courtesy services such as providing directions.
• Provides non-violent physical crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to neutralize extreme situations and mitigate negative outcomes.
• Provide crowd control in the event of an influx of patients and/or visitors.

Qualifications

Must Haves*

• 21 years of age or older.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Possess a valid Washington State Drivers license and meet eligibility requirements for tribal insurance.
• 2 years of experience as a security guard or relevant position i.e. military experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a cross-culture environment.
• Effective communication; written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
• Basic computer and software experience using MS Office products.
• Must be in good physical condition to respond to potential security and safety concerns. A significant portion of the workday is standing or walking.
• Ability to complete First Aid and CPR certification within the first 60 days of employment. 
• Ability to pass extensive criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
