What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduler position at Digestive Care Center?
Digestive Care Center is seeking a Scheduler for our Jasper office. The primary responsibilities include scheduling outpatient procedures such as X-rays, lab work and test, and to coordinate scheduling or procedures with the scheduling department.
What You Need for this Position:
- High school Diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical office experience preferred.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Efficiently schedules patient procedures, tests, and lab work such as x-rays, MRI’s CT Scans etc. as ordered by physicians and nurse practitioners.
- Accommodates physician and nurse practitioner scheduling preferences.
- Reviews history and medications with patient to ascertain correct prep for patient, and communicates any medication changes that may be required.
- Accurately enters data into AllScripts.
- Promptly and accurately removes/moves scheduled procedures in AllScripts when moved/cancelled to keep schedule current at all times.
- Responds to incoming ancillary scheduling requests as calls are received.
- Promptly returns calls from voice mail.
- Schedules patients in appropriate facility in order for patient to receive maximum insurance coverage & reimbursement.
- Pre-certifies MRIs, CTs and other testing as required by insurance companies.
- Completes Physician Diagnostic Referral form & lab work requisitions and confirms ICD-10 and CPT codes.
- Coordinates scheduling of procedures with the scheduling department.
- Initiates referrals to physicians and medical centers for consults and follow up.
- Provides Call Center with referral information for continued processing.
- Prioritizes clinic workload to keep exam rooms filled and to assist physicians and nurse practitioners.
- Cleans, stocks and prepares exams rooms at the end of each day for the following day’s patients.
- Responds to requests from physicians, nurse practitioners, patients and families in a timely manner.
- Prints schedule for physicians and nurse practitioners.
- Prepares procedure charts for physicians, assuring that all appropriate information is included and is accurate.
- Collaborates with Medical Records to obtain missing information.
- Accurately enters information into Medical Manager.
