POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Installation Technician will primarily travel to customer locations to install, diagnose, repair, and maintain hardware and software components, ensuring the functionality of various technological systems. This role requires a highly organized, customer-focused individual capable of managing installations and service calls across a wide geographic area while maintaining high standards of professionalism and technical expertise.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Install and configure hardware and software components at customer locations to ensure full functionality.
· Develop, configure, and maintain local networks to optimize performance and ensure connectivity.
· Travel extensively to client sites, sometimes overnight or for extended periods, depending on project requirements.
· Verify and test hardware and software functionality following installation or repair
· Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues both on-site and remotely when needed.
· Repair and replace damaged or outdated hardware components.
· Perform upgrades to systems for compatibility with new software
· Perform tests and evaluations on new equipment and technology to ensure compatibility and reliability.
· Ensure all work meets electrical safety standards and industry best practices.
· Clean and maintain equipment and vehicles to ensure efficiency and readiness for each job.
· Provide customer training, orientation, and guidance on the operation of new systems or upgrades.
· Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, clients, and colleagues, representing the company professionally.
· Log into customer systems remotely using Digital Guru Remote Support to assist with troubleshooting.
· Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, supplies, and installation materials; ensure they are well-stocked and ordered as necessary.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS
· Basic knowledge of computers and electronics is required; degrees or certifications in related fields (electrical, computer systems) are highly valued.
· Previous experience in installation, IT support, or a related field is required.
· Certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , or equivalent are a plus.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND ABILITIES
· Proven experience as an installation technician or in a similar role.
· Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
· Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality when handling customer data or sensitive systems.
· Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
· Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities.
· Comprehensive understanding of computer systems, networks, and installation principles.
· Ability to manage deadlines and handle stress effectively in high-pressure situations.
· Proficiency in remote troubleshooting tools and techniques.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequent standing, walking, and manual handling of tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Regular operation of motor vehicles for traveling to client sites.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to distinguish colors.
WORK CONDITIONS, TRAVEL, AND ENVIRONMENT
This position will spend significant time traveling to various customer sites. It will involve work in diverse environments, including office settings, industrial spaces, and potentially outdoor locations. Extended hours may occasionally be required to meet client needs or project deadlines.
