Job Summary
We are seeking an OSP Technician / OFC Surveyor to plan, survey, and install optical fiber cable (OFC) infrastructure. The role involves conducting field surveys, mapping OFC routes, assessing terrain and utilities, and supporting fiber optic network installation and maintenance. Candidates must be proficient in using GIS, GPS/GNSS, LiDAR, GPR, OTDR, and drones, with experience in fiber optic installation and testing. You will collaborate with OSP engineers and field crews to ensure compliant and efficient OFC deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Surveys & Route Planning: Map overhead/underground OFC routes using GPS/GNSS, GIS, LiDAR, and drones; detect utilities with GPR and thermal imaging; collect geospatial data via mobile mapping systems.
- Geospatial Data Analysis: Create route maps with GIS (e.g., ArcGIS); use AI to optimize routes; develop digital twins to simulate environmental impacts.
- Utility & Infrastructure Assessment: Inspect poles/ducts with drones or robotic crawlers; test existing fiber lines with OTDR; document findings using BIM.
- Installation & Maintenance: Assist with OFC installation (trenching, splicing, aerial mounting); test networks with OTDR; support maintenance using AR tools.
- Technology Integration: Use 5G/IoT for real-time data collection; operate drones for mapping; apply AR (e.g., Trimble SiteVision) for on-site visualization.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure regulatory compliance; maintain detailed records with GIS and digital twins; update project managers on progress.
