Overview
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained. This position is vital in supporting the healthcare team by providing safe and sterile instruments for patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of aseptic techniques and have a keen attention to detail to uphold the highest standards of hygiene and safety.
Duties
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols.
- Perform routine inspections of sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of sterile supplies and equipment.
- Assist in the organization and storage of sterile items, ensuring easy access for surgical teams.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to understand specific instrument needs for various procedures.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures at all times.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated on best practices in sterile processing.
