Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant/Medical Office Representative (MA/MOR) position is responsible for knowing his or her professional scope of practice as defined by Nevada statutes and regulations. The MA/MOR must satisfactorily complete the orientation period, demonstrating skills and behaviors that reflect a fully competent level of performance. The Medical Assistant maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment, and performs patient care services that support the physician or provider’s practice under the clinical supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Licensed Vocational Nurse. Responsibilities include assisting in preparing patients for examinations or procedures, assisting with procedures, relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person, and collecting patient data. The MA also documents patient concerns, messages, and care provided in the patient’s medical record for the physician’s review, administers medications specifically directed by the physician, and performs accurate vital sign measurements and documentation.
The Medical Office Representative (MOR) serves as the first point of contact for phone customer service. This position provides excellent customer service through clear communication and the appropriate distribution of phone calls and messages. Additional duties include collecting and updating patient demographics and insurance information, verifying health plan eligibility, taking complete and accurate messages, and scheduling mutually agreeable appointment times using the electronic practice management system. The MOR may also perform various clerical duties as needed to support daily clinic operations, benchmarks, and quality patient care initiatives in accordance with departmental guidelines.

Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or military training equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant required.
- BLS-CPR certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT/ICD-9 coding procedures, pharmacology, and reference tools related to the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
- Proficiency with keyboarding, computer equipment, and office software required.
- Experience with electronic practice management systems is preferred.
- Experience with multi-line phones/ACD phones is preferred.
Preferred:
- Six (6) months of experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant.

Six (6) months of experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Office Receptionist;
- OR an equivalent amount of experience in a high-volume customer service role in another industry/environment;
- OR six (6) months of experience as a Phone Receptionist or Health Information Associate within Dignity Health.
Pay Range
$19.77 - $27.19 /hour
