Job Summary

Diligent Solutions is seeking a Billing Specialist. This role is responsible for accurately and efficiently managing the billing process, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. This position addresses billing inquiries from patients and insurance companies while collaborating with team members to support the financial operations of the practice.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office setting with proficiency in CPT / ICD-10 coding and insurance guidelines (required).
  • Experience with billing software and EHR systems (required).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Associate degree in healthcare administration or a related field.
  • Certification in medical billing or coding.
  • Prior experience in a specialty practice.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :

  • Process and submit insurance claims accurately and on time.
  • Record and post payments received from patients and insurance companies.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility.
  • Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment options.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate billing records, logs, and documentation.
  • Work closely with the Practice Administrator and Clinical Team to ensure proper coding of services.
  • Assist in preparing billing reports and supporting audits when required.
  • Primary Duties :

  • Submit and manage claims with insurance companies, ensuring proper claim follow-up and resolution of denials.
  • Monitor claims for accuracy and compliance with company policies and industry guidelines.
  • Ensure billing and coding align with current regulations and organizational standards.
  • Work with patients to establish payment plans and offer financial assistance options when necessary.
  • Coordinate with front desk staff to obtain accurate information required for billing purposes.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay updated on best practices in billing and coding.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding (CPT / ICD-10).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills with professionalism, empathy, and patience.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Work Environment :

  • Professional healthcare office setting.
  • Routine use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing systems.
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and toxic substances.
  • Physical Demands :

  • Ability to lift and move office supplies or equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Manual dexterity for using office equipment and performing job-related tasks.
