Environmental Engineer
Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Environmental Engineer to lead and manage waste operations, ensure compliance with environmental regulations, and maintain safety standards. The ideal candidate will oversee ISO 14001 initiatives, coordinate sustainability goals, and collaborate with emergency response teams to create a safe and sustainable workplace. Success in this role involves driving compliance, innovation, and safety improvements while fostering a culture of zero-loss and growth within a large manufacturing environment.
- Manage the operation and shipping of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, including scrap and recycling programs.
- Lead ISO 14001 initiatives, including audits, certifications, and system compliance.
- Oversee compliance with EPA, air permits, water permits, and local/state environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with the Process Safety Management (PSM) team to meet and exceed sustainability goals.
- Prepare and submit environmental reports to city, state, and federal agencies.
- Work with the emergency response team to develop and execute safety protocols.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, waste management, and environmental compliance processes.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience, including managing waste operations for hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Experience working with EPA, air permits, water permits, and relevant local/state agencies.
- Preferred: 2 years in a highly automated manufacturing environment with 500 employees.
Certifications (Preferred):
- ASP (Associate Safety Professional)
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
- CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist)
- CAIH (Certified Associate Industrial Hygienist)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OSHA, EPA regulations, and FDA GMP standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills for root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions.
- Action-driven with a proactive approach to prioritizing and completing tasks.
