JOB TITLE: Parish Bookkeeper & Receptionist - Part-Time (<20 hrs/wk)
REPORTS TO: Director of Staff / Pastor
GENERAL SUMMARY:
As first point of contact, this position is primarily responsible for professionally representing the parish by providing excellent customer service, administrative support to the pastor, and handles special projects, complex record keeping and other duties that contribute to the functions of parish life while supporting the goals, objectives, and mission of the parish. This position also performs basic accounting functions in accordance with standard bookkeeping procedures in the following areas: general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and payroll. This position requires a high level of confidentiality, handling sensitive information and matters necessitating discretion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience & Certifications:
High School Graduate or equivalent preferred. Minimum of two to three years related experience required. Typing skills and attention to detail and time management are required. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Gmail, accounting systems, knowledge of standard bookkeeping procedures, and demonstrates ability to learn required; working knowledge of QuickBooks Software preferred.
Other Qualifications:
Attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical and problem solving skills required. Strong interpersonal skills essential. Ability to exercise good judgment in handling difficult and/or sensitive situations, with ability to maintain confidentiality in all transactions. Ability to exercise good organizational and time management skills, ability to manage projects and multiple priorities. Technology and computer literate.
Physical Demands:
Employee may be occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. Occasional walking, stooping, lifting, bending, and kneeling are also required. Computer work and communication demands require adequate vision and verbal communication skills.
