Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as an Early Childhood Support Specialist. This role will provide a nurturing educational environment for students, assisting the Pre-School Teacher in all aspects of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Pre-School Teacher in planning and implementing lessons, ensuring a smooth learning experience for students.
- Supervise and engage with students during class activities, recess, lunch, and dismissal, maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
- Prepare instructional materials, supplies, and bulletin boards under the direction of the Pre-School Teacher.
- Perform various clerical duties, including emptying and filling folders, lunch and milk counts, and handing out and collecting papers.
- Escort students to and from restrooms, special trips, and other designated areas.
- Prepare and clean up after snack time, promoting healthy habits among students.
- Communicate effectively with parents, responding to concerns and questions about their child's progress while maintaining confidentiality.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma is required, with a minimum of 2 years of college or related coursework in child development.
- Previous experience working with children, an understanding of child development, and the skills necessary to relate to students being taught are essential.
- Initiative, patience, and the ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and empathy are critical qualities for this role.
- Good writing skills and effective communication with students, parents, and teachers are also required.
Additional Requirements:
- Maintain clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check, as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014.
- Attend the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.
