What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrative Assistant position at Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown?
St. Francis Xavier and St. Aloysius Parishes in Cresson under the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown has an opening for a full-time administrative assistant with a 40 hour work week. *This position would initially be supporting one parish and transitioning to both by summer.*
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Typing, printing, and mailing documents such as the weekly bulletin, meeting agendas and minutes, programs, worship aids, etc.
- Assuming the role of receptionist for visitors to the parish office and for answering telephone calls
- Implementing all accounting functions to include processing payroll, AR/AP, maintaining chart of accounts, reconciling statements, invoicing, creating and generating associated financial reports and coordinating parish deposits, diocesan reports, etc.
- Processing mail and distributing parish and diocesan communications
- Ordering office supplies
- Liaison for parish fundraisers and activities
- Performing daily responsibilities in a professional and cordial manner
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Supportive of the mission of the Roman Catholic Church
- Able to successfully complete background checks and training applicable to diocesan requirements
- Associate degree in business preferred or 2 years of related experience or five years of practical office experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Professional oral and written communication skills
- Able to professionally communicate on all levels while displaying compassion, confidentiality & positive attitude
