Job Opening
The Blair County office of Catholic Charities under the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown has an opening for a full-time Resource Assistant with a modified week of 36-hour/4-day work week. The Resource Assistant is the first person to embrace those coming into our office seeking assistance to include many of the person(s) among the marginalized.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Performing general administrative tasks in support of staff members
- Conducting initial assessment of client needs in order to make an appropriate referral to caseworker staff
- Assisting with the needs of clients by making appropriate use of resources in alignment with the agency’s mission while maintaining high levels of confidentiality
- Providing information regarding the organization and its mission to public inquiries
- Organizing and maintaining donation inventory and managing distribution
- Other duties as assigned
Desired Requirements:
- Supportive of the mission of the Catholic Church
- Able to satisfactorily complete background checks and training applicable to diocesan requirements
- Associate degree in related field and two years of experience or five years of experience within an office setting, preferably in a nonprofit organization
- Prior experience interacting with county and regional human services organizations
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity
- Exposure to bodily waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
- Responsible for safely cleaning & sanitizing affected areas according to organizational procedures
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- High level of time management and organizational skills
