Director, Parish Nursing (PART-TIME)
This position works within the VITALity Catholic Healthcare Services and reports directly to the Executive Director. We are looking for a self-starter who works independently covering Camden County and will become part of team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the development of Parish/Faith Community Nursing programs in parishes that seek the opportunity to establish this ministry.
- Assists local parishes in the implementation of their Parish/Faith Community Nursing ministry.
- Serves as a resource and liaison to the parish/faith community nurse coordinator as they further grow and develop the ministry at their parish.
- Develops and provides educational, screening, and health promotion tools for the parishes in order to enhance their ministry.
- Responsible for interpreting and communicating The Diocese Parish Nurse Program objectives and strategic plans with regional Parish/Faith Community Nurses.
- Coordinates the collection, collation, and analysis of data and outcomes for Parish/Faith Community Nurse programs and activities.
- Ensures compliance with regulations and standards that apply to Parish/Faith Community Nursing, including American Nurses Association Scope & Standards for FCN, the Diocese of Camden policies/procedures, and The Joint Commission Standards related to spiritual care.
- Manages budget for assigned area in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Identifies opportunities for the provision of parish needed services not otherwise provided through the Diocese of Camden Home and Parish Healthcare Services.
- Promotes spiritual growth of Parish/Faith Community Nurses throughout the diocese.
- Develops and strengthens partnerships with regional community organizations and healthcare providers.
- Assists in the creation and distribution of marketing information to elicit interest and expand Parish/Faith Community Nursing and other congregational health ministries.
- Provides Parish/Faith Community Nurses with continuing education to enhance professional, personal, and spiritual growth.
- Provides presentations to persons and/or groups within the Diocese of Camden and the greater community on pertinent health related topics and/or Parish Nursing.
- Contributes to community events, as appropriate (i.e., planning, organizing, participating and/or evaluating).
- Oversees and supports ministries under Parish/Faith Community Nursing.
QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Current, active RN licensure in State of New Jersey.
- Basic preparation in parish/faith community nursing required; preparation as a parish/faith community nursing coordinator and educator preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing and managing professionals in complex functions and processes.
- Minimum three years clinical and management experience in community health with at least two years parish/faith community nursing experience.
- Understanding of current nursing practice trends including the continuing education credit application process.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Bilingual preferred (English/ Spanish), but not required.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, technological) are required.
